Finneas Thund was born to Drasdo and Gordoroy, a pair of sheepherders from southern Cormyr. He grew up tending to the flock and talking to people who came through town. On occasion, a weathy trader by the name of Githerdy Strongbottom would visit to buy wool to sell in far away places. Finneas was enamored by the man's presence and his financial prowess. From a relatively young age, Finneas wanted to be a successful businessman like Githerdy.
When Finneas was 17, he introduced himself to a group of travellers passing through town as A. G. Pennypacker and agreed to buy 78 sets of knitting needles. He had heard the old adage "you have to spend money to make money" and decided to dive right into spending money. Unfortunately he later found that in his town of sheephearders, everybody already had knitting needles, and also just sell unscoured wool. "Tis no matter", he thought "I need a larger customer base" and decided to move to Arabel.
Arriving in Arabel with his armful of knitting needles and a sum of money from his parents, Pennypacker was able to eventually sell his stock at a net loss of 7 gold pieces. Undeterred by this minor setback, he decided that in order to raise the price of whatever goods he had, he needed to exude an air of confidence and bought himself a set of very posh-looking clothes. This did not work. After this short stint in Arabel, Pennypacker moved to Shadepoint and encountered a small amount of success there brokering supplies to miners in the underdark. Recently though he was able to afford to take a break and go visit his parents on their farm.
