The Beginning

Late last year, I began keeping a digital diary and I've been much more consistent about writing entries than I have during past attempts at journalling. I also encrypted it using gpg, mostly because I thought it was cool that hehehe nobody can read my diary.

On a seemingly unrelated note, I recently tried installing Gentoo Linux on my laptop and it went much better than it did last year when I tried it the fist time. Before doing so, I backed up (what I thought was) all of my files. I got all of them except for the key file I used to encrypt my diary. That got deleted. So, I still have my diary from the past ~8 months, but I likely won't ever be able to read it again.

In light of the above, I decided to act on an idea I've had for a while and partially replace my diary and start writing things in this blog format. I'll use this blog for recording things for posterity/a kind of DIY social media page and I'll start a new diary for personal stuff.
